The Melbourne CI jam has been dancing almost a decade and a half. With its first few years at the Victorian College of the Arts, the jam has resided the majority of its time at Cecil Street Studio.

The jam has an open structure, with no led warm-ups, but there are jam regulars available to offer some guidance if needed. It welcomes all levels of CI experience and abilities, including absolute beginners.

About the teacher:
Alejandro is a visual and performing artist from Buenos Aries Argentina. He has danced contact improvisation for the last 12 years and has been teaching in Sydney since 2002. Alejandro has hosted, attended and organised several workshops around the world, working with many international artists. He has taught Contact Improvisation for companies like Legs on the Wall, Shaun Parker, Kate Championʼs Force Majeure, ACPE and the dance department of the UNSW. In 2008 he toured with a Legs on the Wall performance for the VISA corporate lounge at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games. Alejandro has had training in physical theatre, pantomime, acro-balance and circus and is the director of Strings Attached Physical Theatre Company. Alejandro's classes are always fun and challenging and his attention to physical and emotional safety, provides the students with the perfect environment for personal growth. Alejandro is fully insured by Ausdance insurance.

The "Salle Christine Rumeau" is the gymnasium of the Etienne Billières primary school, made available to us by the Cultural Centre Fontaine Lestang. It is located not far from the metro station "Fontaine Lestang" in the South West of Toulouse.

At the basis of contact improvisation are the physical contact between two or more partners, the relation to gravity and to the momentum of moving bodies. To enjoy this playful and spontaneous form of movement – and to survive it – it is essential to be in the present moment and give space to the intelligence of the body.

In this class we start with practices that favor deep release and an awakening of the senses. We will seek to develop a sensitive body and aim to unite interior awareness and perception of the outside world. How can we follow our individual impulses and desires in moving, yet not lose the fluidity of contact, always coming back to the present moment?

Contact improvisation classes and jams are held on Saturdays at the Moving East Centre for Martial Arts, Dance and Complimentary Medicine in Stoke Newington. All levels of experience are welcome and booking is not required. To attend the class please arrive at 11.15 in order to start at 11.30. The class is followed by a three-hour jam which can be attended independently of the class.

Tuesday evening class for an hour and a half, with warm up and principles into dancing. Usng Body Mind Centering and martial arts to warm into the body, to ease the flow of movement and sharpen the focus.

Our contact improv group meets for scheduled jams at ASU, with occasional workshops led by contact improv teachers from across the country.

Every Thursday we have a beautiful studio open from 8:30-11pm at 7th Heaven Yoga in Berkeley. This is a big space, so we’re excited for this contact improv jam to welcome other somatic arts (like acro-yoga, capoeira, tai chi) into the creative soup. The soundscape is varied, with a mix of silence, downtempo/ambient recorded tracks, and tasteful live music.

Also, please to be in touch if you’re interested in leading a pre-jam class/lab, would like to offer some live music, or have any other ideas or suggestions for the time/space.

Mixed levels class with jam time at the end. Drop-ins welcome. No experience necessary. We meet pretty much every week, but you can call ahead to confirm if you like. Come join us!

DanceJam is a by-product of the expressive arts movement that began in the early '70s along with the post-modern and contact improvisation dance movements. In San Diego County, our community has been coming together in the dance for over thirty-five years. We meet three times a week – on Friday nights in North Park, and on Sunday mornings and Tuesday nights in Encinitas.

The new improvisation dance jam is off to a great start every Wednesday night on a drop-in basis at Shotwell Studios in SF's Mission district.

The pre-jam class from 7:30-8:30 pm segues smoothly into open dancing until 10:30pm, so if you are new to contact improvisation, this is a great way to build your confidence to get on the floor and stay present to what comes up. Everyone is welcome no matter what experience you have or modalities you are comfortable with. If you are new to the community or a beginner contact dancer, seasoned dancers will be present for you and encourage you to dance with them to deepen your experience and feel included at this fun jam in a beautiful space!

Dance Improv, Live evening has a beginning, middle, and end. Generally, the opening gives meaning to the rest, so please come early to enjoy it the best.

Monthly Jam held in Ithaca, NY at the Ahimsa Yoga Center, located at 215 North Cayuga Street in the Dewitt Mall, directly opposite the entrance to Moosewood Restaurant. Beginners are always welcome, bring a friend! Occasional classes and workshops are also offered.

We hold a monthly JAM at the Ahimsa Yoga Studio on the third Sunday of the month from 1-3 PM. This coincides
with an event called Dance Church and there is a mix of people attending who are into free movement and contact. All abilities welcome, beginners too.

A monthly event for sketch artists to draw dancers as models-in-motion and for dancers to improvise with one another, while being inspired to move by the art in the making! This is a unique opportunity to explore the combination of visual, motion-based and audio arts. As host, Green Space hopes to provide a relaxed environment for spontaneous, free expression and improvisation between the different forms while encouraging synergy amongst artists. The Open Movement Jam consistently draws 40 to 50 contact and non-contact movement improvisers and dance-friendly musicians, meeting absolutely all Monday evenings at the Childrens Aid Society in the center of Greenwich Village, NYC. We are open to all sorts of movers — including those who may be trained in or trying out various dance forms, contact improv, theater, martial arts, yoga and other styles — and welcome participants with all sorts of physical capabilities. We continue to mix many out-of-town visitors and other newcomers with semi-regulars and regular participants, meeting in this enormous, beautiful space.

The jam and its predecessors have 40 years of continuous participation:
- Carrier Pigeon events of the 1960s (conceived by Kenneth King, still the most accomplished and supportive improviser around)
- Robert Wilson School of Byrds of the 1970s (from which more than a dozen of the collaborators still participate, including the great Christopher K.)
- Open Movement at PS 122 from the 1970s-90s (founded by Charles Dennis, who regularly contributes his creative energy and ideas) and
- The Jam at Judson Church 1999-2001 (founded by Bill Jacobson, who brought the jam to the center of the Village and participates whenever in town.)
